Rumors are circulating about Fortnite getting a new map for the Battle Royale mode. However, this rumor about a new map is based on wild speculation on YouTube, as our author Schuhmann points out.
In the last patch 3.5, the PvE mode of Fortnite “Save the World” received a new map for the “Survive the Storm” mode. This is the new desert map “Thunder Route 99,” where players defend an increasingly larger base against the Husks. Popular German-speaking YouTubers have turned this into the news “Desert Map coming with Season 4 – Fortnite: Battle Royale.”
The title implies that this is official and confirmed by developer Epic. However, that is not the case.
Neither the title of the video nor the thumbnail indicates that images from the PvE mode “Save the World” are shown in the video:
The video then clarifies: Yes, this is the new PvE map.
The logic behind why this will become the new “Battle Royale” map is as follows: The map is very complex, and Epic would surely not go through the effort of developing such a map just for the PvE mode. The map is currently only playable in PvE, as Epic supposedly didn’t have time to finish it for Battle Royale, but that will surely happen with Season 4.
The video has already received over 500,000 views in a short time and is a big topic in the German-speaking Fortnite community:

- However, there was also an English-speaking inspiration for the German video already. This came before the PvE map went live, and therefore has no cool images.
2. The Map Was Not a Topic for a Long Time
Is the video true? Here, the wish is clearly the father of thought or at least the wish for many clicks.
It is certainly conceivable that Fortnite – like PUBG – will eventually get a second map, and that is also mentioned in the FAQ from Epic. However, the new Fortnite map must also correspond to the dimensions of the first map or be designed for that purpose. Simply repurposing a PvE map will not work.
In recent weeks and months, Epic has been constantly developing Fortnite and making new plans. However, it was mainly about new time-limited modes, new platforms, weapons, and skins.
Many players desire a new second map, but currently, there are no indications for that.
