Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) is plagued by nasty bugs in the building system. Therefore, update 2.4.0 and the highly anticipated minigun did not arrive as expected on February 1st. Instead, the update is postponed and the building system will be reverted to an earlier version. The server maintenance for Fortnite will take place today on Friday evening.
The whole world is waiting for update 2.4.0 in Fortnite. Especially the bulky minigun included in it is eagerly awaited by many players. The hefty weapon could make short work of the enemy forts in the endgame and could be a “game-changer”.
But unfortunately, there will be no minigun or update for the time being. The cause is building bugs!
The building system is buggy, so there is no update!
Since update 2.3.0, there has been a serious issue in Fortnite. The building system in particular is causing major problems and results in entirely different things being built than intended. Some players have complained that they wanted to build a wall and had even selected it in the build menu.
What ultimately appeared in the game world was a staircase. Annoying, frustrating, and in the worst case, such building mistakes could cost someone their virtual life.
This is especially annoying when you are frantically building defenses in the final phase of a battle royale match and cannot afford to make mistakes.
Developers want to load the old version of the building system until bugs are fixed
According to the developers at Epic, the bugs in the building system are more vicious than expected. Therefore, they were unable to fix them by the release date of update 2.4.0. Instead, the developers intend to re-implement the building system from version 2.2.0 when version 2.4.0 eventually goes online.
However, they could not or would not reveal when that will be. We will keep an eye on the situation and inform you immediately when a new date is known.
Server maintenance and new update for Fortnite coming Friday evening
Update 19:10: The postponement did not take as long as expected. The servers for Fortnite on PC, PS4, and Xbox One will go down for maintenance at 7:00 PM on Friday to roll out the new update 2.4.0.
The servers will be down for a while. Players will need to download an update once the maintenance of the Fortnite servers is completed.
Players are stuck in a queue in Fortnite
It is not known how long the servers will be down for maintenance. Epic states: They will bring players back to Fortnite as soon as possible.
The demand is so high that the Epic Games launcher is showing a queue for Fortnite.
Information on when Fortnite will be back online should arrive at 10 PM
9:00 PM: There is now an update. It does not sound too promising. Epic has not yet provided a time when the Fortnite servers will return. They plan to provide information around 10:00 PM our time.
Update 10:10 PM: It seems to be working again. Reports are increasing that Fortnite is back online. The minigun is in the game, and there is a hint of a new mysterious weapon: “With this, you will become the secret hunter.”
