In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) there is a matching skin and a pickaxe in the China look for the Chinese New Year. This time, the mystical Monkey King Sun Wukong is up!
Fortnite: Battle Royale treats you with always new, crazy skins. Recently, there were matching outfits for the Olympics and crazy skins for Valentine’s Day. One of them is perfect for setting traps in the right environment and disguising as a statue.
But to celebrate the Chinese New Year, this time there is a skin from the mythology of the Middle Kingdom.
“Make the Monkey!”
In China, the new year of the dog is just starting. But for the developers at Epic, it is rather the “Year of the Monkey”, as the new skin is called “Wukong” and shows a monkey-like creature in a stylish China outfit.

The skin is clearly inspired by the legendary Monkey King “Sun Wukong” from the ancient Chinese epic “Journey to the West”. In this legend, the Monkey King Sun Wukong is a clever trickster and powerful fighter who must protect a rather clumsy monk from enemies and demons.
Monkey skin for the thick wallet
As Wukong – like all skins in Fortnite: Battle Royale – is a purely cosmetic item, you as the Monkey King have no special advantages. You cannot soar on a cloud or swing a long iron staff.
However, there is also a skin for your trusty pickaxe. The “Dragon Axe”, which is also available in a stylish China design. But the new skins and outfits are not cheap.
For Wukong, you pay a proud 2,000 V-Bucks, the real currency from Fortnite. That equals about 20 euros. The Dragon Axe pickaxe is available for 800 V-Bucks, which is worth about 8 euros.
Fun Fact: Sun Wukong is the most used Chinese mythological figure in MMOs. There are skins and heroes inspired by him in games such as Warframe, League of Legends, Paragon, and Heroes of the Storm.
