With the patch to game version 3.0.0, it will finally happen – the dominance of the Double Pumpguns in Fortnite: Battle Royale will be broken. Why not much will change nonetheless, our author Robert knows!
They represent the meanest combination in Fortnite: Battle Royale – double Pumpguns. By quickly switching weapons, a fire rate is achieved that is not possible with Pumpguns in a conventional way.
This way, entire teams can be eliminated solo in a short time. This is way too strong, the community has been complaining for a long time. After Epic at least announced that they would look into the issue, more detailed information has emerged on how the Double Pumpguns will be handled.
First the pump animation – then shoot
Epic’s Senior Systems Designer Eric Williamson has now described the specific measures in a Reddit post. Every time a player switches to the Pumpgun in the inventory, they must wait for the pump animation before they can shoot.
This way, it should be prevented that the original fire rate of the Pumpguns is overridden by simple weapon switching. For the double use of Pumpguns this may be true – however, the Pumpgun combined with a tactical shotgun or submachine gun will likely become the new way to play.
Robert thinks: Since only Pumpguns are affected by the planned change, players will simply switch to a tactical shotgun or submachine gun after the initial Pumpgun shot to quickly resolve the fight.
So instead of two Pumpguns, players will now carry a tactical shotgun or submachine gun. It feels like this will change little. At least, Epic has emphasized that they will closely examine the weapon combinations that will prevail.
Further changes are therefore not excluded. The patch 3.0.0 will be released this week – the Double Pumpguns will thus be a thing of the past this week.
