A comet that seemingly grows larger with each update, telescopes scattered across the map – does it threaten the apocalypse in Fortnite: Battle Royale? And what does the Battle Pass have to do with it?
Currently, discussions in the forums are heated – a strange object has appeared above the map of Fortnite: Battle Royale. At the same time, camps with telescopes aimed at the meteorites can be found everywhere.
What does all this mean? The wildest theories are being discussed. From the extinction of the dinosaurs to an alien invasion, everything is on the table!
What has changed in Fortnite?
On one hand, with patch 3.4 these telescopes can be seen at several locations on the map. They seem to be calling: “Look to the sky, what’s going on?”

And indeed, one can see a comet or a strange object in the sky that seems to be growing larger.

Data miners have also discovered a comet in the game’s data. And they are sure it has multiple phases, meaning it should be approaching the map.
What do the dinosaurs have to do with the Battle Pass!
It is now scientifically proven that dinosaurs were wiped out millions of years ago by a giant meteorite. Does the same fate await the players in Fortnite: Battle Royale? After all, there are clear hints in the current Battle Pass:

- The Rex skin fuels this theory even more. Is Epic trying to erase the map this way? And thus announce a new map?
- Or is it perhaps only about the Tilted Towers? The town has been criticized for some time now – allegedly causing a boring midgame.
In the community, other concepts have already been circulating that could replace the Tilted Towers. Allegedly, the Tilted Towers should be replaced by a place called Captive Castle.
Will we soon admire a large impact crater that once was the Tilted Towers instead of a castle? Or is everything quite different?

Will the PvE content finally be F2P?
Another theory sees the mysterious object in the sky as proof that the PvE content “Save the World” will finally be free to play. So far, Epic has only revealed that the mode will be free to play in 2018 – without providing a specific date.
Will the meteor bring the monsters from Save the World into Fortnite: Battle Royale? A fusion of PvE and PvP sounds interesting but seems rather far-fetched.

Some voices even speak of an alien invasion. Again, the Battle Pass serves as a reference.
While the first Battle Pass was still focused on knights and the medieval era, we have now arrived in the space age – featuring John Wick as the obvious pinnacle of creation. What could be more fitting than an alien invasion for Season 4?
Official statement from Epic
In a statement to the US site Kotaku, there is now an official statement from Epic regarding the comet in Fortnite. It consists of this image:

At least the spontaneous vibrating of controllers has now been commented on. It is a glitch that they are working to fix.
Either way – big things are looming. What will the meteor ultimately bring us, and will it happen on April 1? What do you think?
