In Fortnite, a new skin bundle has been announced. However, that it is not an ordinary package is shown by both the content and the nature of the announcement.
This is included in the bundle: The bundle is called the “Last Laugh Bundle” and includes Batman’s arch-nemesis: The Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime is complemented by plant fanatic Poison Ivy and a new version of the Fortnite skin “Midas” – in the form of “Midas Rex”.
There are also additional cosmetics:
- The back accessory “Joke’s On You”
- The pickaxe “Bad Joke”
- Another pickaxe called “Joker’s Revenge”
- The emote “Pick A Card”
- Additionally, there are 1000 V-Bucks
The Joker and Poison Ivy are the next DC skins coming to Fortnite after Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and of course Aquaman. However, they will not be available immediately but are expected to boost the Christmas business.
An Unusual Bundle
What is unusual about the Joker bundle: That Fortnite announces a bundle far in advance is quite unusual – yet that is exactly what has happened with the Joker package. It will not be released next week or in a comparable timeframe, but only on November 17th. Fortnite is noticeably starting early to promote the new skin.
This is further complemented by the game itself: Characters like Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and even Batman himself are returning to the item shop. Additionally, Aquaman is also available in the Battle Pass. Fortnite is therefore launching a small offensive with heroes from the DC universe – and that, while the Marvel collaboration for the Avengers Beta is currently running.
The date itself is also notable. Because: The Harley Quinn skin, for example, was released when the movie “Birds of Prey” came out – that matched. However, no DC movie is currently announced for November. Only the Suicide Squad game, which Rocksteady, the developer of the Arkham series, plans to show soon, is in the headlines at DC. It is supposed to be revealed on August 22 – a release in November seems rather early. One will probably have to wait until August 22.
A Joker for Christmas? It is likely that Fortnite is simply already looking towards the Christmas business with the Joker package. Even if the Joker is anything but Christmassy, exclusive skins fetch a lot of money in Fortnite. And the crazy criminal has a lot of fans.
The bundle will not only be available in the in-game shop but also in retail. This announcement is particularly noticeable – it doesn’t just show the skins but an entire box art. Therefore, theoretically, there will even be something to unwrap, which could be wrapped in gift paper. The “bundle box” concept as a gift also worked during Christmas 2018.
According to a Forbes report, the bundle is supposed to cost 30 dollars, which corresponds to about 25 euros. However, the bundle also includes 1000 V-Bucks, which corresponds to about 10 euros. Thus, one could compare them. Nevertheless, the bundle with possibly the biggest comic villain of all time should generate a lot of money if it sells well.
Christmas is traditionally busy in Fortnite. Last year’s Christmas event offered plenty of gifts like the “Millennium Falcon” that players could earn day by day. This motivated players to keep checking in.
At the end of 2018, the Christmas business in Fortnite also generated high numbers – especially on iOS. A key factor were special frozen skins that could only be obtained for real money. It is conceivable that the Joker package could also attract a lot of players.
Interesting in light of recent days is the closing sentence of the announcement: “Players on mobile devices and PC platforms will not be left out. We will soon show you how you can purchase the Fortnite: Last Laugh Bundle for these platforms.” Fortnite has recently been removed from several stores – this is what it is about.
