It has long been known that the Imposter mode “Imposter” in Fortnite is very similar to the game “Among Us.” Epic Games has now spoken up and stated that the “Imposter” mode was inspired by Among Us. Could a collaboration be on the horizon?
What happened before? Fortnite released a new mode called “Imposter” towards the end of Chapter 2, Season 7. This mode was very well received by the community and is still being played actively. Many players may have noticed that this activity resembles another game – Among Us.
Therefore, the team from Among Us reached out to Fortnite and indicated that they would have done a crossover if they had been asked. However, there was no collaboration, and everything remained as it was: until now.
Fortnite admits to being inspired – Offers collaboration
In the Twitter post regarding the Fortnite Shimaniski election, Epic Games specifically mentioned Among Us. They referred to Among Us as a hit and the source of inspiration for the “Imposter” mode.
Has Among Us responded? The Twitter account of Among Us took note and responded with an emote to the post. Following that, Fortnite wrote, “Hey @AmongUsGame! Since you’re here, we’d like to ask you something.”
Epic made them an offer for a collaboration. Among Us then responded to the offer and told Fortnite that their agents should contact their crewmates. Although the mode has been online in Fortnite for a while, the two games have now finally found their way to each other.
Is a crossover coming? Officially, nothing is planned yet. Neither Epic Games nor the “Among Us” developers InnerSloth have commented on whether a crossover is in the works. However, a collaboration could make sense for both parties – not only financially. The popular “Imposter mode” could be further refined by the pros at Among Us, and many new opportunities for skins would arise in both games.
