In Fortnite, players can purchase a new skin made from old map elements. The “Eco” outfit clearly shows how much the game has changed over the years.
This is what the skin looks like: The new Eco skin landed in Fortnite on April 22nd, catching attention with its unusual design. The character basically looks like a walking map: There are visible rivers, a sort of lava arm, a few little trees growing from the character’s elbow, and his right leg is frozen.
On his back, he carries a globe featuring an active volcano that puffs little clouds of ash into the air. It is said to erupt when opponents are eliminated. Fans of miniatures should delight in this skin. Additionally, a harvesting tool has also appeared in the shop: A well-known sword embedded in the skull of a nasty monster. The skin costs 1,500 V-Bucks in the store (approximately between €12-15).
All of this does not come without reason. Those who take a closer look at the colorful figure will recognize plenty of things – at least if they’ve been around for a few years.
A Skin for Fortnite Nostalgia Fans
The skin has a lot of references: The walking map Eco clearly shows how much the map has changed since its release in 2017. On Eco’s armor, you can see various locations from older versions of the Fortnite map, showcasing how the game looked before the locations of today’s prehistoric season variant.
Among other things, you can see on the skin:
- The warehouses of Dusty Depot on the right leg. They later transformed into Dusty Divot, where the visitor showed up – which is also featured in the skin.
- The Tilted Towers clock on the shoulder.
- The well-known ice landscape from Season 7 on the right leg.
- The desert that occasionally transformed into a Borderlands map on the left leg.
- The rivers on the chest may be a nod to Loot Lake.
- The mentioned volcano that once destroyed the map also extends over the left arm.
- The belt buckle features the tomato face of Tomato Town and Temple.
- The Durrr Burger is stuck on the right arm.
It is a colorful mix of various seasons, all coming together in a single skin. Many of the locations on the skin have been replaced today – there is no longer a volcano, nor any ice landscape. Currently, there are The Spire, a walled jungle, or prehistoric villages in the center of the map in the game.
The skin is certainly for nostalgia fans. Many players should feel reminded of old maps and victories. This also applies to these 16 gliders that you only have if you have really played Fortnite from the beginning.
