In Fortnite today the big update 8.00 is coming. This brings Season 8 to Fortnite. We take a look at the patch notes in English and see the first highlights.
Here’s the background: As we have long suspected, Season 8 in Fortnite is themed around pirates: A monstrous volcano has erupted.
The “Prisoner” has gained new power and has caused this volcano to erupt. Now Fortnite belongs to the ninjas and pirates.

The highlights of the patch notes for Fortnite Battle Royale
New weapon: The pirate cannon is new. It fires cannonballs and players. They then fly through objects and hit with a bang.
Anyone struck directly by the cannonball (or a fired player) takes 100 damage. In a small radius around the impact, there are another 50 damage points.
You can prepare the cannon, aim, and fire it.

These items have disappeared from Fortnite:
- The snowman
- The ice grenade
- The airplanes
- The shopping cart
- And the all-terrain vehicles

There’s less good news about this weapon: You will find blue, purple, and orange assault rifles less frequently – but more often green and gray ones.
This is how Fortnite changes supply drops: Supply drops are now displayed on the map.
This is how Fortnite changes traps: Using traps will be more convenient. If you want to place a trap on a ceiling or wall, the underlying structure will automatically be built for the trap.

Fortnite map with new locations, lava, and geysers
New locations on the map: There are apparently new places on the map called “Lazy Lagoon” and “Sunny Steps”.
And there is also a huge volcano that has appeared on the map.
This is changing in gameplay:
- There are new “geysers” in the game that can catapult players and vehicles into the sky.
- Additionally, there is lava that deals 1 damage per touch. The lava will also make players jump off the surface.
This is what Fortnite takes from Apex Legends: And Epic took another look at world markers. Fans had wished for Fortnite to orient itself towards Apex Legends.
Players can now also “ping” in Fortnite. The world markers are now visible in the world and have been refined.

Friends become even more important in Fortnite
This is how Fortnite strengthens groups: Players can enable in Season 8 that other group members can help them complete challenges. This applies to daily and weekly challenges.
However, this only counts for “real group members” – not for people who are filled in.
These are the highlights of the patch notes for Save the World
This is the most important change: In the PvE mode of Fortnite “Save the World,” Epic has already announced that they want to make the hero selection much more complex. This system comes with today’s patch.
In the future, all decisions should become more important:
- The commander (the main hero) defines the abilities and grants benefits
- Up to 5 “side heroes” are in the support team. Their stats contribute to strengthening the main hero
- There are also “class benefits” and “team benefits”
- Mythic heroes will also become “more special” and grant access to new unique advantages

This is behind it: These are additional RPG and collection elements for Fortnite: Save the World. Players should be motivated to find “rare and powerful” heroes that then offer special benefits and feel different.
New mission type: With “Beta Storm” missions come 10-minute missions that will likely run in horde mode and go a bit quicker. Normally, missions last about 20 minutes.

This is how the world changes: “Plankerton” has received a new visual update and gives players a “coastal biome” to explore.
We will be focusing all day on MeinMMO on the new changes in Fortnite.
