Fortnite (PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS) is played by millions of players. This has completely overwhelmed the support team – even though it is now seven times larger than in December 2017!
What is it about? Fortnite is growing more and more. Currently, over 3 million players are regularly engaged in wild battle royale matches and a smaller number in PvE mode. This often leads to problems that the support team bravely has to face. However, the flood of requests overwhelms the team despite massive expansions.
Requests are delayed for months!
Where is the problem? Since they cannot keep up with the support tickets, many requests for help remain unresolved for weeks or even months. Or they are completely ignored. This is especially frustrating when one has been compromised by hackers and suddenly hundreds of euros are missing from the account.
By the time support processes the issue and the money is restored, one can run into serious problems. Among other things, when the rent or another large amount is due.
The support team is set to double again
What is being done? To better manage the flood of support requests, Epic has already increased the support team since December 2017 by seven times. However, this has not resolved the issue. Therefore, Epic plans to double the support team again soon!
Epic did not specify exactly how many employees will soon be working in support. However, the multipliers sound impressive. Overall, the original team would thus have increased by 14 times since December!
Is it really enough?
What could go wrong? As mentioned, these are not absolute numbers, and even a team that has grown by 14 times may consist of just 14 people in the worst case. And even if it certainly is more support staff, they still face a monumental task.
Let’s hope that the upcoming release of Fortnite in China does not further burden support and is taken over by local publisher giant Tencent for that region.
