Fortnite: Battle Royale has a new eSports scandal. The 14-year-old pro Kquid was banned in the middle of the tournament and claims to be innocent. However, the evidence is practically open on his desktop.
Who is it about? The Australian pro gamer Kai “Kquid” Eaton is known in the Australian Fortnite scene. He has performed well in numerous tournaments, and his last success was 5th place in the “Australian Open Summer Smash” in February 2020.
What happened? Recently, Kquid was participating in the Fortnite Champion Series Invitational, a major championship. However, in the 2nd round, he suddenly got kicked out of the game and was banned without any reason given.
Pro protests against ban, evidence speaks against him
How does Kquid justify himself? Kquid declared his innocence. He did not cheat and the ban surely came because he had changed his PC before the tournament. His old PC had not been working, so he went to a friend’s house and borrowed his PC for the tournament.
This behavior would have been noticed as suspicious and led to the mistaken ban. Since he remained banned, he enlisted the help of popular Australian YouTuber Lachlan and eSports commentator AussieAntics.
They were supposed to use their contacts with Epic to get him unbanned.
These are the evidence against Kquid: However, another Australian named Serpent seemed not to believe Kquid and investigated further. Indeed, he discovered large and wide folders and icons of cheat software, namely aim assists and obfuscation software, on Kquid’s desktop in past streams.
This is how Kquid justifies himself: When Serpent published this on Twitter, Kquid also spoke up again:
- The files were still from Season 9, he wanted to try it back then, but it didn’t work anyway. The cheats didn’t function.
- He deleted the cheats and reset the whole computer multiple times to factory settings.
- The files are only still there because he wanted to keep his apps when resetting the system and therefore there are still fragments of deleted apps and files on the desktop.
For Serpent, this was of course not a successful excuse. Because why, Serpent asked, would one have the files lying around on the desktop for which he reset the whole system?
And why is the folder of one of the cheat programs saved under April 2020? That would be long after the alleged cheats in Season 9. For Serpent, it is clear: Kquid cheated at least with aim assist and is now trying to talk his way out of it and save his career.
Serpent has also apparently discovered in videos that Kquid not only used aim assist but even had a real aimbot running. Because his crosshair targets opponents precisely, enabling super precise shots.
His ban remains in place, and Epic has not yet commented.
Completely without cheating and fraud, a YouTuber recently won a round in Fortnite. And that, even though he did not move a single time in that match. How this curious incident came about, you can find out here at MeinMMO in the Fortnite section.
