Who is Lyght? Under the gamer name Lyght hides Lion Krause from Gütersloh. The boy is only 13 years old and has qualified against strong international competition as one of the top 100 players in the world who will compete in the great Fortnite World Championship in New York this weekend .
Therefore, the boy has the chance to win 3 million US dollars in prize money if he can prove himself in the 6 rounds of the solo finals on Sunday and takes first place.
Lyght prefers to become an eSports professional rather than an office worker
These are the boy’s goals: In an interview, Lyght explained that he never had much desire to have a typical 9-5 job:
“My goal has always been to never have to work normally. Going to the office every day for eight hours and that for years, I don’t think that’s good.”
Thus, he made his hobby a kind of profession early on and became a Fortnite professional. Since July 2019, he has a contract with the eSports team GamerLegion and even receives a monthly salary for it.
However, his big goal is clearly to win the finals in the solo finals on Sunday, where he could come home with 3 million US dollars. Then he probably wouldn’t have to accept a dull office job anymore. Moreover, he has already received hefty 50,000 dollars just for qualifying for the World Championship.

What does he have to win to become a dollar millionaire? The prize money at the Fortnite World Championship is so high, that 4th place out of 100 is still enough to become a dollar millionaire. Fourth place is worth 1,050,000 dollars. That would be about 947,000 euros.
To be a millionaire in euros as well, the boy needs 3rd place – there is 1.2 million US dollars, which is 1.07 million euros.
Here’s how Lyght prepared: To ensure that the million dollar win works out, Lyght has prepared well. He was specifically in a training camp and trained there for a week for 10 to 12 hours each day.
How is it going with school? Some Fortnite prodigies – like the Brit “BenjiFish” is completely taken out of school by his parents so that the dream of Fortnite fame can come true.
