In Fortnite: Battle Royale you could soon receive 10 US dollars for free. A leak promises a windfall for everyone who secures their account with two-factor authentication (2FA).
What does the rumor say: On the Fortnite start screen, there are always up-to-date news and announcements. Recently, a mega sale for Epic’s sales platform and Steam competitor was unexpectedly advertised.
Additionally, there was the announcement that one would receive 10 US dollars for free if they secured their account with two-factor authentication (2FA). The 10 dollars would be intended as credit for the entire Epic store, so you can get various items in the shop besides Fortnite skins, the Battle Pass for Season 9 or new gliders.

What’s behind the rumor? The announcement from the news site disappeared after a few hours, but by now there is an official statement from Epic about it. On Twitter, they said that the message was accidentally sent out too early.
However, a sale is indeed planned, and they will announce more about it in the coming days. Whether there is any truth to the cash gift for the Epic store has not been confirmed. However, since the news was part of the mistakenly published announcement, it is likely to be authentic.

What is 2FA? According to the announcement, you must activate 2FA for Fortnite to get the money. This involves securing your account with an additional external key along with your password to log in.
With 2FA, hackers have a much harder time accessing your account. 2FA is also a requirement for gifting items in the game. You can find out how to activate 2FA in Fortnite here.
