In the process, Tate has increasingly come under fire for his radical and misogynistic statements and was banned from most mainstream social networks in 2022. His supporters then demanded the release of their idol with the slogan “free Andrew Tate.” However, when Elon Musk took over the then Twitter, Tate’s account was restored there.
In December 2022, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested by Romanian authorities on suspicion of human trafficking and organized crime – a feast for reaction streamers. In August 2023, the brothers were released from house arrest but are still awaiting their trial in Romania.

Ross claimed that Tate invited him to Romania to stream together and produce content for a week. It was the last opportunity before he would leave Romania forever. Adin Ross and Andrew Tate have known each other since mid-2022, when the then-Twitch star invited him to his stream.
A spokesperson denied to RollingStone that the Tates had intended to leave the country. Adin Ross had misrepresented Tate’s messages, the spokesperson said.
