The former Twitch star TimTheTatman fires shots in his first YouTube stream against his old home platform Twitch and explains why YouTube Gaming is better – even for newcomers.
TimTheTatman, known for Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone, announced on September 1, 2021, that he is switching from Twitch to YouTube Gaming. This naturally caused quite a stir in the Twitch community. After all, his move is not an isolated case, and he is not the only Twitch star that YouTube is “scooping up.” Before him, his friend Dr. Lupo and the streamer Valkyrae switched from Twitch to YouTube.
However, already in his very first stream on YouTube, TimTheTatman makes it clear: He is now on YouTube Gaming because it is the better platform. According to Tim, there is a whole list of features and amenities that he finds better on YouTube than on Twitch.
TimTheTatman says: This is why YouTube is better than Twitch
This is what the streamer celebrates about YouTube: TimTheTatman switched platforms not just for money. In fact, nothing is known about a transfer sum. In his first stream on YouTube, he explains what reasons truly motivated him to make the switch.
Much more than money, it is about the newfound time he can spend with his family. But it is also about the tangible advantages he appreciates about his new streaming home:
- Viewers can pause the stream at any time
- The YouTube community is much friendlier and more welcoming than on Twitch
- Streams are automatically suggested to new people who are moving within the bubble
- There are many more people who know YouTube than Twitch, leading to better visibility in the real world
Furthermore, the streamer finds it cool that he is already recognized as a YouTuber by people just one day on YouTube. In his stream, he reported that fans recognize him on the street and do not label him as a Twitch streamer but as a YouTuber.
The advantage that impresses TimTheTatman the most about YouTube and that he emphasizes again is the visibility and growth on YouTube.
When I talked to Wipz, he tried to explain it to me: My stream is suggested to new people who don’t know me at all, just because they were looking for similar topics.
He then takes aim at his former platform Twitch and criticizes it for being too hard for new streamers to get discovered:
Unlike being somewhere where there is just a list of categories. Where you have to hope that someone scrolls down far enough to find you with your 5 to 10 viewers.
Is YouTube better for new streamers?
This is how TimTheTatman views the chances: Nowadays, newcomers in the streaming business have to stand out – really stand out. Particularly on Twitch, every niche is filled, and streaming major titles often makes no sense, as the competition is simply huge. TimTheTatman explains what it can look like with a big title like Call of Duty: Warzone:
I started with Twitch, I remember exactly how it was. There are so many streamers, if you, for example, browse the Warzone category, you scroll for days – days, it just keeps going!
Who else has switched? As already mentioned, TimTheTatman is not the only Twitch streamer that YouTube has lured away. Dr. Disrespect is also now a YouTube streamer. Who else YouTube has stolen, you can find out here: 3 of the top 20 streamers stay on Twitch – allegedly receive millions $ for it
