Netflix will start several new animes in Spring 2025. Among them is Moonrise. Many well-known industry figures have been involved in the series. One of them even begged Netflix to promote the anime more.
How did he beg Netflix? Masashi Koizuka is the producer of Moonrise. He has previously worked on series like Attack on Titan and Guilty Crown. He posted on X requesting “the red N company” to promote the new anime. He can’t do it alone:
Please do your best to promote it. I can’t do it alone. Seriously, please!! It’s still deeply buried. Red N Company!! It’s time to show the world your power!
By “the red N company,” Netflix is clearly meant. The company’s logo is a red N, and the anime is exclusively available on this streaming service. That is presumably why Masashi Koizuka reached out to Netflix to promote the series more strongly.
Why did he do that? As a Reddit user wrote in a longer post, Netflix generally does far too little advertising for animes. He mentioned Moonrise as an example, which many subscribers are not aware of.
Usually, the production of such an anime would take place under brutal deadlines. This is not the case with Moonrise, as there are 4 years between the announcement and the first trailer. Additionally, many anime greats are working on the project, including the mangaka of Fullmetal Alchemist. Therefore, the user cannot understand why there is so little advertising.

Did his post make any difference? In fact, about 11 days after the producer’s post, a new trailer for Moonrise was released. Shortly before the premiere, Netflix also made several posts about Moonrise on its anime account on X. The series has been mentioned approximately 14 times since early 2025. It is unclear whether this is related to Koizuka’s post.
What kind of anime is this? Moonrise was created by the production team of WIT, which is also responsible for the upcoming remake of One Piece. Two producers from Attack on Titan, the mangaka of Fullmetal Alchemist, and a writer from Psycho-Pass were involved in the anime.
Thematically, it is about a future humanity governed by an AI named Sapientia. People blindly trust the rational decisions. One of these decisions includes outsourcing criminals to the moon to keep life on Earth peaceful.
But the poverty on the moon leads to a war. Jacob “Jack” Shadow gets caught up in this conflict after he loses his family in a terrorist bombing. He vows revenge against the moon’s rebel army and joins the Earth army as a scout on the moon.
