In the current Summer Sale on Steam, there are numerous strong offers, especially for fans and aspiring fans of Warhammer 40,000. A role-playing game that allows you to dive excellently into the world is currently reduced by 50%.
What kind of game is this?
- You play as a Rogue Trader: Individuals who can do almost anything in the Imperium in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. You have just inherited the title and are now exploring your realm while facing numerous dangers.
- The game itself is a classic cRPG with isometric perspective. You control your character and your party from a “top-down” view and engage in turn-based combat. The classes consist of “archetypes” that you level up.
- The core of the game is the story and character development. There are different endings and you can enter into a relationship with some companions. Rogue Trader offers both a solo and a co-op mode.
This is the sale: Currently, the Steam Summer Sale runs from June 26 to July 10, 2025. Part of the offers is Rogue Trader with a 50% discount. The game also now features 2 story DLCs, each with about 15 hours of story and a new companion:
- Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader on Steam for 24.99 instead of 49.99 Euros
- The 1st DLC Void Shadows on Steam for 13.11 instead of 17.49 Euros
- The 2nd DLC Lex Imperialis on Steam still costs the full 17.49 Euros
- The first season pass for Rogue Trader on Steam is available for 14.49 instead of 28.99 Euros – here both DLCs are included, so you pay less for both together than for Lex Imperialis alone
With Void Shadows, the game adds Kibellah as a companion, a member of the Death Cult assassins. The DLC also features two new classes, Blade Dancer and Executioner, and a story revolving around a secret and dangerous cult on your ship.
Lex Imperialis is the newest DLC and just released on June 24. Here, Arbitrator Solomon Anthar and the Overseer as a new class enter the game. The story here revolves around the Adeptus Arbites, the stern judges and policemen of Warhammer 40,000.
Rogue Trader is the ideal introduction to a grim world with complex lore
If you have not yet been involved with Warhammer 40,000 or find the world too complex, Rogue Trader is the perfect game for an introduction. It does take some time to get familiar with the mechanics, but you experience the story very directly.
The game not only explains the relationships between rogue traders, the Inquisition, the Imperium, and the conflicts between humans, Xenos, and Chaos, but also provides insights into various areas of the universe:
- one of your companions is a Space Marine of the Space Wolves, who loves to tell stories of his homeworld Fenris
- another companion, Sister Argenta, is part of the Adepta Sororitas, the fanatical warrior-priestesses of the Imperium
- you can also recruit an Inquisitor, an Aeldari, and even a Drukhari – all of them tell their own story of origin
As far as the surroundings go, Rogue Trader offers quite a bit. You visit various planets, home worlds of dangerous Xenos, get to know Chaos cults, and can even explore your Voidship with Void Shadows, something that is rare in other Warhammer games.
The only downside of the game is that the gameplay may not suit everyone. Role-playing games are inherently slower and more ponderous. Those who need more action might be better served with Space Marine 2 or Darktide – both of which are also discounted in the Steam Summer Sale. Here you can find the 7 best games for getting started with Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000.
