Do you want to get the probably hardest weapon to obtain from Destiny 2 or at least try? Here’s what you need to do to get the Not Forgotten.
Besides Redrix’s Claymore and Luna’s Howl, there is another weapon in Season 4 of Destiny 2 that can only be obtained through PvP. It is the Hand Cannon Not Forgotten. Those who want to attempt this monster task should expect a long road through the competitive rankings, but the best outcome is one of the strongest PvP Hand Cannons.
Not Forgotten – The Sister Weapon of Luna’s Howl

What is the Not Forgotten? The Not Forgotten is a legendary Hand Cannon for the energy slot. It belongs to the Hand Cannon archetype with precision frame. Not Forgotten is therefore precise and has a fast fire rate of 180.

What makes Not Forgotten so special? Like Luna’s Howl, the Not Forgotten has the special perk “Magnificent Howl”. This perk grants two quick successive precision shots bonus damage for a short time, until you get your next kill or miss a shot.
Magnificent Howl gives the weapon a damage bonus – and it is enormous (around +125%). Especially in PvP, the additional damage is noticeably significant. When Magnificent Howl is active, no PvP opponent can survive the two critical hits, followed by a third – even if the third shot hits the body. Here, a resilience of 10 will not save the opponent.
What is then the difference to Luna’s Howl? The main difference between the two weapons lies primarily in range and thus also in precision.
With its initial perks, the range of the Not Forgotten can be greatly increased. Moreover, the weapon apparently comes with an automatic range masterwork. This allows the Not Forgotten to reach nearly double the range of Luna’s Howl.

Range in Destiny 2 not only means reduced damage drop-off at longer distances – it also equates to precision. So, if a weapon has more range, it will also be more precise.
In short: Not Forgotten has a higher range and is more precise. Luna’s Howl, on the other hand, offers higher stability, better handling, and a shorter reload time. You can watch the differences between the two weapons in this video comparison by FalloutPlays:
Two Colts for Every Occasion: The Not Forgotten and Luna’s Howl are basically two versions of the same weapon. Not Forgotten is aimed more at those who enjoy using Hand Cannons but prefer long-range combat and can live with lower stability. Luna’s Howl is suited for those who like stable Hand Cannons and prefer to fight at close range.
How to Get the Not Forgotten
The Long Road to Not Forgotten: The Not Forgotten can only be obtained through a multi-part PvP quest in the competitive playlist of the Crucible. Obtaining Luna’s Howl is the first requirement on the way to Not Forgotten.
Once it is obtained, a new quest line starts where you must prove your Hand Cannon skills. The following steps need to be completed:
- Get 300 kills with Luna’s Howl in the competitive playlist of the Crucible
- Now you must reach the sixth and final rank “Legendary” in the competitive rankings – that is, a full 5500 points
You have the entire Season 4 to complete these tasks. The biggest hurdle on the way to Not Forgotten is likely the rank climb, just like with Luna’s Howl. Because with every defeat in the competitive playlist, you lose points in the Glory rank system. This quest is aimed more at hardcore PvP players and is likely unreachable for the average Guardian.
