One of the best role-playing trilogies of all time is currently available on Steam for the price of a kebab – and a rather cheap one at that.
Which games are we talking about? Mass Effect is for many RPG fans one of the best game series of all time. The games were developed by BioWare and tell a large, coherent story full of friends and foes, romances and betrayals.
With the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the original trilogy has received a remaster. This improves the graphics, among other things, with high-resolution textures. Additionally, there are some quality-of-life improvements. The first two parts benefit the most from the remake.

In combat, Mass Effect is a classic third-person shooter: you take cover, shoot down enemies, and occasionally throw a grenade at their feet. If you play as a biotic, you also have access to some spell-like powers. Additionally, you take two companions on each mission who support you and share their opinions on the current events.
The greatest strength of the Mass Effect trilogy is the characters and world-building. Your companions are a colorful bunch of humans and aliens with their own complex personalities. Whether you hate them or love them – you will not easily forget your comrades.
All inhabitants of the Milky Way have their own, often very dark past filled with conflicts, mistakes, and prejudices. This makes the world feel alive and significantly larger than it actually is. This past will also influence how your companions behave and what they value or cannot stand about you.
Above all, there looms a danger of cosmic proportions, whose origin and motivation remain unknown for a long time. Your task is to get to the bottom of it. Your path will be paved with difficult decisions that could cost your people their lives.

However, you can easily spend over 100 hours in the world without getting bored. This is also recommended, as many good stories are hidden in the side missions.
