Interstellar is considered a science fiction masterpiece. However, Christopher Nolan was not initially planned as the director, and another legendary director wanted to direct the film.

The original idea for the film comes from producer Lynda Obst and physicist Kip Thorne. The scenario of the two began the early development of the film in 2006. Spielberg was involved at that time, and in 2007, Jonathan Nolan was brought on as the screenwriter. Christopher Nolan’s brother has written the screenplay for many of his films, such as Prestige or the entire Batman trilogy.
However, in 2009, Spielberg’s production studio DreamWorks SKG separated from Paramount Pictures and switched to Disney. Spielberg left the project, and a new director had to be found. Christopher Nolan then joined the project in 2012 and directed it.
Physicist Kip Thorne remained involved in the project from the beginning and served as a scientific advisor for Nolan. Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. distributed the film, which was released in theaters in 2014. The film was a great success, both with critics and audiences.
Spielberg’s version of Interstellar would have been different. While Nolan directed a very philosophical film with scientific theories and concepts, Spielberg would have made one of his classic adventure films.
In this version, China would have played a major role, similar to America, trying to save humanity. In the film, robots would have appeared in a Chinese space station, against which the astronauts would have had to defend themselves. On the space station, the astronauts would have received important information for saving humanity.
