For the most anticipated Steam game 2022, it continues to go downhill – Now they probably have to change the name

The Day Before was once the most anticipated game of 2022 on Steam, but since then the game has been in negative headlines from time to time. Whether it’s allegations of fraud or licensing issues with its name. The latter seems to have continued, as apparently they want to change the name again.

What is The Day Before?

• It is supposed to be a zombie MMO
• Similar to Day Z, it’s about PvP and survival in a zombie apocalypse
• The game was even named the most wanted game on Steam

But the initial hype has continued to decline. Allegations of fraud regarding The Day Before have become louder, and many players believe that the game isn’t real at all. This has gone so far that the developers announced a beta to convince them. And the name of the game also has its problems.

The Problem with the Name

As reported at the beginning of the year, the release of the game has been postponed to the end of 2023. Back then, the developers justified the postponement on Twitter citing licensing issues related to the name.

Due to these issues, The Day Before also disappeared from Steam and thus from probably the largest audience. The whole name confusion even went to court, and it seems that developer Mytona Fntastic will have to change the name or at least secure it.

As the site WellPlayed reports, a trademark for the company was registered with the name Dayworld, indicating a video game. The ironic thing is that the name Dayworld is also used by a book trilogy that was published in 1985.

There is still no official statement from Mytona Fntastic regarding this. Whether the name will change, they are just securing themselves, or it is even a new game can only be speculated based on the registered trademark.
