Destiny 2 now has a new mission for 12 players, which concludes the saga of Light and Darkness after 10 years. Here you will find out what kind of mission this is and how to play it – spoiler-free.
What kind of mission is this? With The Final Shape, the saga of Light and Darkness comes to an end after 10 years – this mission is the conclusion.
After the Raid “Edge of Redemption” was completed for the first time by a team, Bungie released a new mission called “Excision”, which lets you fight against the Witness alongside 11 other Guardians.
Accompanied by the forces of the Eliksni, the Cabal, the Awoken, humanity, and the Hive, we march into a massive battle against the Witness’s subordinates, who is waiting for us at the end. Of course, we will also be supported by NPCs like Zavala, Ikora, and Osiris.
After the victory against our powerful adversary, an emotional cutscene awaits us, which we certainly do not want to spoil for you.

How can you play the mission? To play the mission, you do not need a football team, as it features open matchmaking. Of course, you can still join the conclusion of the saga with your own fireteam.
Additionally, you do not need to have completed the raid to experience the end of the saga. However, the campaign of The Final Shape is different. You must complete it, as well as the exotic quest “Wild Card” before the mission.
If you have not completed the campaign and Wild Card, the final mission will not be shown to you.
What happens after the mission? The Witness is defeated and the Guardians celebrate their triumph. We can now face new dangers and new opponents. However, what lies ahead is still unknown.
Bungie will reveal what the upcoming year of Destiny 2 will look like in a stream on June 10, 2024, at 5:00 PM German time on YouTube. A new saga is likely to begin. Perhaps we will also learn the name of the next expansion or official information about Destiny 3.
