The birthday event in Dead by Daylight is running. But instead of joy, there are big problems that cause a lot of frustration for players.
Dead by Daylight has now been around for a solid 5 years, and if you follow the current discussions surrounding the asymmetrical horror game, you wouldn’t know it. Because after every major update, the game suffers from numerous bugs and errors – just like this time.
Especially bitter: The 5th birthday of Dead by Daylight is actually supposed to be celebrated, instead, the game is stealing items and bloodpoints from players.
What’s going on with Dead by Daylight? Dead by Daylight is celebrating its birthday. This is supposed to be a nice event where players can collect progress quickly and unlock many rewards. These include:
- 500,000 bloodpoints just for logging in
- Bonus bloodpoints through special offerings (up to 625% bonus)
- Free Iridescent Shards
- Special cosmetic offerings for killers and survivors
- New perks in the Shrine of Secrets every day
- A community challenge that entices with special outfits
Basically, this is quite a lot for players to look forward to. Unfortunately, massive bugs are currently spoiling the fun.
What kind of bugs are these? Many and almost all are related to the progression of the respective account. Shortly after the event started, many players reported that the following errors occurred:
- The free bloodpoints disappear immediately
- Purchased items from the bloodweb disappear (items, perks, addons, offerings)
- The unlocked cosmetic offerings disappear
- Numerous error messages and game crashes
There’s no festive mood here. Many players report that they lost between 200,000 and 700,000 bloodpoints due to these problems – in most cases, that’s many hours of gameplay.
The community has gallows humor: In the subreddit for Dead by Daylight, things are heating up, but now it’s all taken with humor. This is mainly because such massive errors only strengthen the players’ resolve to stick to the boycott of Dead by Daylight. The event is seen as a prime example of what is currently going wrong in the game’s development and where the developers’ priorities apparently lie.
Behaviour had already responded to the errors shortly after the event started and explained that they had received numerous reports and were investigating the problems.
All that’s left is to hope that these bugs will be fixed faster than the issues with the still deactivated Resident Evil map after 2 weeks. Because in 14 days, the birthday event will already be over.
