The year 2019 could be a bit more expensive for Hearthstone fans. Solo adventures will become more extensive, but will again cost money or a lot of gold.
Blizzard has announced its plans for Hearthstone and the year 2019. However, this may not please all fans, as solo adventures will again cost money. Blizzard had abolished this a few years ago, but now wants to see gold or real money.
Story chapters cost money: The single-player expansions will be divided into chapters again, with each chapter bringing two playable heroes in different missions. However, only the first chapter of a solo campaign will be free. Future chapters will cost real money or gold (as before). Individual chapters are available for 700 gold, and those who want all chapters of an expansion can pay 20€ instead.
Dungeon playstyle remains intact: Particularly the “Dungeon” playstyle of the last expansions (Knights & Catacombs, Witchwood, Rastakhan’s Rumble) was well received by players. The developers want to stick to this model and implement a lot of new features to allow more customization and different playstyles within the same class.
Continuous story: Also new is that the story of all three expansions in 2019 is supposed to be interconnected. A continuous narrative will be told, starting with the first expansion in 2019 and concluding with the last expansion. This gives the developers the opportunity to tell a larger story within Hearthstone.
Fans react mixed: On one hand, players are happy that Hearthstone wants to bring more story content and weave the stories of different expansions together. On the other hand, fans are disappointed that there is now another way to spend money. This dissatisfaction comes from those who only want to dip in occasionally.
Because when the stories of several expansions are interconnected, players may be quickly tempted to buy all previous expansions.
In the coming weeks, the first new expansion should be introduced and further information about the adventures and cards will be published. We will keep you updated.
Are you looking forward to the Hearthstone year 2019? Or do you find the development rather negative?
