In Destiny 2, legendary weapons reveal the future, speaking of death and destruction. What is Bungie hiding before our eyes and what role does the nasty witch Savathûn play in this?
Which weapons are involved? For half a year, Bungie has been spoiling the story of Destiny 2 right before our eyes in the game. 2 legendary weapons reveal much about the future. MeinMMO takes a closer look at the messages.
These are the sniper rifle “Far Future” from the past Season 13 and the submachine gun “Stochastic Variable” from the current Season 14.
As befits a true oracle, the messages from the future are of course cryptic. In addition, it seems that the predictions are not entirely in agreement, and we are presented with multiple parallel futures. The Guardian Hurrystorm was one of the first to discover and organize the secret messages from the future (via reddit).
Potential spoilers for the story of the current Season 14 and even beyond follow, you have been warned.
Legendary weapons are already spoiling the story of Destiny 2
What do the guns reveal? The two weapons report visions that Lakshmi (xenophobic robot woman and leader of the future war cult) and Ixel (Cabal assassin and Guardian killer) have. Both can look into the future thanks to Vex technology.
- Surprisingly many prophecies revolve around the attack on the Last City.
- The attack is likely to take place in the Botza District. This is where the Fallen refugees from Mithrax reside – we also know this area from the raid “Scourge of the Past”.
- There is a high probability that the attack will actually happen soon – at the latest on August 10. Here, the Season 14 roadmap indicates an “Epilogue”.
- In general, the Tower is taking damage, humanity mourns, and chaos reigns on the streets.
Guardians have long speculated that we should expect an attack soon. Lakshmi does not tire of warning us about the attack and inciting hatred against the fleeing Fallen. However, the future varies; in some prophecies, the Vex are named as attackers from a portal – this matches a promotional image of Season 14 that Bungie itself released.
Who dies? According to the prophecies, Zavala is as good as dead: “Funeral procession: Zavala dies: Zavala dies: Zavala dies” is probably the clearest prophecy, ending with the Witch Queen fleeing and wondering how “they came in”. But it should also be said that “Zavala is gone”.
That Zavala will likely not die during the current Season 14 has already been confirmed by leaked lore texts from Triumphs in-game. However, the prophecies of the weapons could refer to a more distant future. The lore text of Far Future dates back to February 2021 and speaks of events that will occur in August 2021.
Is a witch lying to our face?
Here are some curious predictions:
- Asher Mir is making a comeback. Strange, because the always grumpy scientist died when the Darkness fell.
- Lakshmi is predicted to be head of state. More on this here: Destiny 2 apparently kills off 3 characters you know – but as text, so nobody notices
- Mithrax is put on trial.
- From radioactive dust, the Darkness rises – is our enemy simply throwing an atomic bomb to eliminate all Guardians?
- The future war cult, of which Lakshmi is the head, flees, and Ikora triumphs over it. The two ladies seem to have a strong dislike for each other.

And what about Savathûn? It is almost confirmed that Savathûn has turned Osiris upside down – or taken on his form. The once powerful Osiris seems to be missing at the end of Season 14. The Guardians and a mourning Saint-14 are on the hunt for the Warlock.
That the Witch Queen Savathûn is hiding before our eyes in the Last City, we could have known since Season 13. The prophecies are not entirely in agreement: they speak of her “new Hive rejoicing”, but also that the witch flees (presumably in the form of Osiris?).
However, it should be noted that Savathûn could have manipulated the visions of the future thanks to the corrupted Vex mind Quria. Manipulation and lies are, after all, her area of expertise. We will learn more on August 24. For this date, Bungie has announced the most important stream of the year for all Guardians and the new Season 15 starts.
