In For Honor, some players are complaining about being banned unjustly. Ubisoft has responded.
Just a few days ago, Ubisoft announced that they will take ruthless action against cheaters and hackers in For Honor. They are leveraging the experience they have already gained from other Ubisoft games (like The Division) in the fight against fraud.
If several user reports on Reddit are to be believed, the anti-cheat system in For Honor is going a bit too rigorously. Users are complaining about being banned unjustly. One Reddit user mentions that he doesn’t even own For Honor, yet received an email informing him of his ban. Another user received over 11,000 upvotes when he shared his plight about being banned without ever having played.
Apparently, such unfortunate incidents have occurred more often. Even players who own the game report being banned despite being unaware of any wrongdoing. Here, a Reddit moderator pointed out that bans can also be issued if unauthorized aids are used in single-player mode – after all, the campaign also requires a constant internet connection. Furthermore, even seemingly harmless third-party tools could face issues with the anti-cheat system.
What does Ubisoft say about it?
Recently, Ubisoft spoke out again on the topic of “cheating”: They have now identified and banned nearly 400 cheaters with their anti-cheat program. Additionally, 70 other players were banned for inappropriate emblems or harassment. All bans affect the account, not the hardware.
Once the program raises an alarm, the violation is reviewed by the team. If it can be verified, Ubisoft imposes the sanction. The player then receives an email with all the details.
Furthermore: Banned players who believe they are innocent can file a complaint. They are encouraged to contact customer support. Ubisoft looks into these cases and will decide on a case-by-case basis. Via Kotaku, a Ubisoft representative stated that they are aware of ban issues.
