For Honor has had a long and rocky road. But Ubisoft has learned from its mistakes and is moving into the future with a new hero.
A new hero on the horizon
Who is it? In a video, Ubisoft showed a short teaser of an upcoming hero. There isn’t much to see, only his sword. But it has a very interesting shape. It is a powerful sabre that resembles the weapons of the Saracens. Will we perhaps control such a hero in the battles? The weapon can be seen in the video at the time index 4:24. Currently, there are two theories circulating on the internet:
- A new hero for the Knights – The sword could be a falchion. The single-edged cutting weapon, also known as Fauchon, was used from the High Middle Ages through the Late Middle Ages to the early Renaissance. In German-speaking areas, the weapon was also known as Malchus.
- A Chinese hero – The weapon could also be a Dadao. This is a two-handed sword that resembles a sabre and was used by the imperial guard in ancient China. While there is no Chinese faction in For Honor, liberties have been taken elsewhere.
Ubisoft has learned. The video also discusses how For Honor has developed over the years. Ubisoft realizes that they made some mistakes at the beginning. This was partly due to the fact that the ideas the team had did not always work as intended in the game. However, together with the fans, they were able to smooth out the bumps and bring For Honor to a status that is not only enjoyable but also lays a very good foundation for the future.
