Ubisoft is taking a stand against AFK farming in For Honor. Sanctions and bans are imminent.
In a new article to the community, Ubisoft addresses a frustrating issue: AFK farming. For those unfamiliar with the term, it refers to a method used by some players to repeatedly gain endgame rewards and experience points without actively playing.
They are “away from keyboard”, but their character still runs through the match. Ubisoft cites the example that they hold the sticks in one direction with a rubber band, allowing the hero to move across the battlefield without the player being present.
Since these AFK farmers negatively affect the gaming experience of other players, this issue has become a top priority for Ubisoft. Therefore, they will punish all users (even retroactively) found guilty of repeated AFK farming.
Ubisoft’s Approach – The Punishments
Depending on the individual case, the developers may impose various penalties:
- The first offense will result in a warning.
- Repeated offenses may lead to a Ubisoft account ban for the game, which may be temporary or permanent.
Ubisoft will decide on a case-by-case basis and at their discretion the extent of the sanctions. Penalties will be issued only when the violation can be undeniably confirmed, according to Ubisoft.
The first penalties will be handed out early next week.
The developers emphasize that they are currently working on improved methods to identify AFK farmers and to prevent this practice. The entire “For Honor” team feels committed to always taking action against individuals seeking unfair advantages.
