In For Honor, revenge can determine victory or defeat. Here is the important information about the revenge mode.
If you have already played For Honor, you may have noticed it: Revenge. If you play the game in English, it displays “Revenge”. If you press the revenge button in the middle of a fight, your hero seems to become temporarily stronger. But what exactly is it about? Let’s take a closer look at revenge.
What is revenge in For Honor?
In-game, you can get an explanation of the revenge mode. To do this, click on Customize, then Heroes, then on the hero of your choice, then “How to fight,” and then Action List. In addition to your hero’s special moves, the hero-specific abilities, including revenge, are also listed. It says:
Increases damage and health. All attacks are uninterruptible. Throws and parries knock the opponent down. Attacks are automatically parried upon activation.
But what does that mean in practice? And how do I get revenge?
How to use the revenge mode in practice
In short: The revenge system gives you better chances of survival for a short time. Especially when you have to face multiple heroes, revenge is useful.
To fill the revenge display at the bottom left of the screen, you need to: 1. stay alive as long as possible and 2. parry enemy attacks. Make sure the enemy does not surround you. Move so that you have the opponents in front of you. By avoiding dying in a fight, the revenge display fills up.
Once the display is full and you release revenge, it knocks down all opponents attacking you during activation. This means: Do not activate revenge just anytime, but when the opponent is about to attack. This will knock the enemy down, allowing you to deal devastating damage with Heavy attacks. They cannot defend against it. During the revenge phase, you deal increased damage.
Additionally: All your throws and parries knock the opponent down. Use this to your advantage when the opponents are lying on their backs.
Nevertheless: The revenge mode is not a “guaranteed win” mode. You still need to play smart and not try to storm the opponent with an open visor now. When fighting multiple opponents, you should always go defensively and wait for your opportunities. Because the longer you stay alive, the higher the chances that an ally will come to your aid.
