It has now been officially confirmed that For Honor requires an internet connection at all times.
Recently, rumors circulated that the highly anticipated melee game For Honor would have an online requirement. This was revealed by a preliminary cover that circulated online.
Now, the confirmation from Ubisoft’s community representative UbiJurassic: He states that For Honor is a purely online experience. Players must be connected to the internet at all times. Even in the single-player campaign, there are “elements of progression that are hosted online.”
GameSpot reports that they also received direct confirmation from Ubisoft that an internet connection must be permanently available. In short: If there are server issues, the game cannot be played – it does not run offline.
For Honor will be released on February 14, 2017, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
