In For Honor, the steel prices for the new heroes Centurion and Shinobi are known: They are significant.
Recently, Ubisoft revealed the two new heroes with a trailer, who will join For Honor in the second season of the faction war. The second season starts on May 16 for all players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The two characters are:
- Shinobi: This is the “Ninja” that leaked months ago. He is a Samurai assassin who moves stealthily across the battlefield and hunts his enemies with deadly precision. His weapons are the traditional Japanese Kusarigama.
- Centurion: The Centurion – or “Legionnaire” – also leaked in advance. He is a knight hybrid. The Centurion wields a Gladius, a Roman short sword. He is considered a strategic close-combat specialist.
Those without a Season Pass need to earn a lot of steel
Players who own a Season Pass will have immediate access to the two new characters on May 16. You do not have to unlock them first; you can jump right in.
All other players who do not own a Season Pass will find it more challenging to access Shinobi and Centurion:
- You will have to wait until May 23, as Season Pass holders have a week of early access
- You must unlock the heroes using steel. Each costs 15,000 steel
That is a multiple of what the other heroes cost
15,000 steel is quite steep. You need to invest quite a few hours of gameplay.
At the launch of For Honor, three heroes were available immediately, while the other 9 had to be unlocked with steel to upgrade them. However, one hero only cost 500 steel. This means that all nine heroes together cost 4,500 steel. Thus, the price of 15,000 steel for just one of the new heroes seems quite high. Both new heroes cost 30,000 steel, which is more than six times the total of all previous heroes.
Considering that the “Year 1” plan includes a total of 6 new characters, a substantial 90,000 steel is required for these. By the time these are earned, it may indeed be more convenient for some to purchase the Season Pass. The criticism of the high steel prices has been a topic on social media for months.
