What is going on right now? In LoL, the transfer phase for the eSports teams is currently taking place. It is already known that PerkZ is moving from G2 Esports to America – for a transfer fee of 5 million dollars.
This leaves the AD Carry position at G2 vacant. And it could now be filled by none other than the strongest competitor, Fnatic. Rekkles has not extended his contract with his team and is thus a “Free Agent” on the market.
For Europe, this could mean that a new super team is on the horizon. However, many Fnatic fans dread exactly that.
Rekkles is a strong ADC, could make G2 even more dominant
What makes the situation so crucial? Rekkles has been part of Fnatic since 2015 and extended his contract in 2017 for 3 years. He was seen as the face of Fnatic and was very popular with fans, also because he is considered one of the best AD Carries:
- With a KDA of 7.0, he was the best AD Carry in the LEC in Summer 2020. Upset from Origen ranks second with a KDA of 5.9.
- Rekkles has also recorded the lowest percentage of deaths in his team within the LEC.
- Additionally, he averaged 204 gold more per game than his counterpart once the 10-minute mark was reached. This is the second-best value in the LEC, only the top laner Alphari from Origen had a better score (262 gold).
- Rekkles is considered to be a very consistent player. While other players perform wonderfully in some matches and poorly in others, he usually wins his lane.
But in 2020, the hoped-for extension did not occur. This might have led to Fnatic benefiting doubly from PerkZ’s transfer. On one hand, they could have acquired a stronger mid-laner for themselves; on the other hand, they could have closed the strength gap to G2 Esports.
However, a possible transfer of Rekkles could shatter that hope for many fans. Instead, G2 Esports could now become a super team.
Why would the transfer be so important for G2? In 2018, G2 Esports acquired the mid-laner Caps from Fnatic. Although they had a good mid-laner in PerkZ, they decided to recruit Caps. PerkZ, in turn, moved to the bot lane and took on the role of AD Carry.
