In Fortnite, there has been a flying island located centrally on the map above Loot Lake since Season 6. And it has now started to move. Players have already deciphered where it wants to go and what it intends to do: spread corruption.
This has happened: The flying island hovered at the start of Season 6 centrally over Loot Lake in Fortnite. It is the new highlight and an interesting fresh location with plenty of loot.
Now the island has moved for the first time. It has drifted slightly to the left. Now it no longer hovers centrally over Loot Lake, but slightly offset.
The island moved right after the Fortnite Twitter account posted this image. It reads: “The darkness is increasing – Are you ready?”
The island is supposed to create “volcanic landscapes”
Where is the island moving to? Some users in Fortnite have discovered a glitch in replay mode. This allegedly allows them to see where the flying island is moving.
It seems like the island is approaching the “corrupted areas” that the Space Cube marked in Season 5 with a rune.
What is the island planning? Allegedly the island is supposed to create a kind of “volcanic landscape” out of the corrupted areas when it reaches these areas. These new volcanoes are supposed to then launch the “corruption” into the air.
This could then bring the next level of this event.
What is even going on? The flying island is part of the larger story arc in Fortnite. It suddenly began with Season 3 back then:
- In Season 3, a comet flew towards Fortnite
- In Season 4, an alien emerged from this comet, who launched a rocket – When the rocket launched, rifts appeared in the sky
- In Season 5, these rifts created a cosmic cube that then wandered over the map. In the end, the cube sank in Loot Lake
- And in Season 6, the flying island has now risen from Loot Lake and seems to be wandering like the cube before
What does it all mean? It seems that everything is somehow connected. But we do not know how exactly. It is possible that it is all a harbinger of the “apocalypse” that will then bring the “purple shells” to Fortnite.
Ingame this would mean: With the start of Season 7, the PvE mode of Fortnite “Save the World” will, as announced, become free.
In “Save the World”, players fight against zombies.
