Flintlock: This is how much playtime the souls-like offers
What is the playtime of Flintlock? There is no exact answer from testers yet, but the news site segmentnext.com had the opportunity to ask the CEO and Creative Director, Derek Bradley, about it in an interview.
When asked: “How many hours do you estimate the world of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn offers if players want to explore every corner?”, the answer was as follows:
That’s a good question, which we don’t have a definitive answer to yet. Flintlock has a vast amount of content, with a 40-hour main path. If you were to do absolutely everything, it would take much longer!
So you can expect that the main story may take over 40 hours depending on the player. If you have difficulties with bosses or sections, or take your time exploring, that time could stretch even further.
Flintlock: This is how the gameplay works
What do I need to know about the gameplay? In Flintlock, you take on the role of Nor Vanek, an elite member of the Coalition Army. Together with Enki, a fox-like creature, you wander through the world of Kian and try to stop the gods who want to exterminate humanity.
Flintlock is a souls-like game. It features various elements from well-known souls games like Dark Souls, but in a toned-down manner. For example, you don’t need to pay attention to a stamina resource, as it doesn’t exist. Nevertheless, the game relies on classic melee and ranged combat that is typical for the genre.
Interestingly, Flintlock focuses on aggressive gameplay like Bloodborne. You don’t fight passively with a shield and block; instead, you must time your dodges correctly to avoid getting hit. With your axe or flintlock pistol, you can then counterattack.
Your goal is to defeat the evil gods that haunt Kian. To accomplish this, you harness magical powers granted by your fox companion. Together with new items you find on your travels, you can upgrade your equipment and weapons, and even don new armor to stand a chance against the threat.
In addition to the undead that want to take you down, there are also other mysterious beings that can assist you on your journeys. They may look grotesque but will help you wherever they can.
