With Kraven the Hunter, another Spiderman villain will soon get its own movie. A first trailer provides insight into the plot and raises hopes for the upcoming Marvel title.
Kraven the Hunter joins Venom and Morbius as the third Spider-Man villain to now get its own solo film.
After Morbius flopped in theaters in 2022, fans of supervillains are now hoping for a big hit again. The trailer has many feeling positive.
Here you can see the trailer for Kraven the Hunter:
Similar to the other two anti-heroes of Spider-Man, the trailer promises an action-packed, brutal, and dark film centered around the villain.
The first glimpse already shows how Kraven the Hunter acquires his extraordinary powers and provides flashbacks to his childhood. The film will also receive an R-rating, which in the USA represents the age rating for adults.
The supervillain is played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who previously appeared as Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver in the MCU. Another well-known face from Hollywood, Russel Crowe, is also on board, playing Kraven’s father.
How does the community react? On YouTube, you’ll find numerous Morbius memes and variations of “It’s Morbin’ Time“. Several users also express positive feedback about the trailer and see potential for the upcoming film. The decision to give the film an R-rating is praised:
- jplar5334: “I love the moment where Morbius says: ‘Do you want to be morbed?’ and Kraven replies: ‘No, let’s be kraved’ – a really nice moment.”
- brandoncooper2909: “I was damn skeptical when the film was first announced, but Aaron Taylor-Johnson looks incredible in the role. I’m definitely interested and will buy a ticket now. Please be good unlike Morbius!”
- DOOMStudios: “I’m glad Kraven is getting ‘Rated R’. But it’s really a shame that Carnage in ‘Venom’ didn’t get the R-rating it truly deserved, with: ‘Let There Be Carnage’.”
When is Kraven the Hunter’s theatrical release? The big game hunter will hit theaters this year: The film will be in German cinemas starting October 5, 2023.
