The final point is optimization and performance. There is also apparently considerable room for improvement.
How is the performance? According to current reports, Battlefield 2042 runs at around 80-90 FPS with a Nvidia RTX 2080Ti at 1080p.
Is that good? It is neither really good nor catastrophically bad. However, comparing it to Battlefield V shows a significant difference. With such a graphics card, FPS numbers far over 100 are possible.
Anther participant reported that the shooter stuttered even with an RTX 3080. There were also performance issues with strong processors like the Ryzen 9 3950x.
So there seems to be considerable optimization needs in some areas of Battlefield 2042 before the release. If you want to know whether your hardware is sufficient, check our article on the system requirements for the open beta.
When does the open beta start? The preload has already started. Starting tomorrow, early access participants can join, and the open testing phase starts on October 8th.

Although the early access phase for the beta of Battlefield 2042 is set to start tomorrow, first impressions are already available. The initial feedback is mixed. MeinMMO summarizes them for you.
Where does the information come from? The source is industry insider Tom Henderson. Through his Twitter account, he has encouraged journalists and content creators to anonymously share their impressions of the open beta.
Numerous participants were able to try a beta build of Battlefield 2042 at a press event yesterday.
Henderson has gathered the opinions of allegedly 7 of the participants and summarized them in an article (via gamingintel.com). Here we show you what they had to say about the beta.
Mixed feelings about the Battlefield 2042 beta
How is the beta received by them? Henderson has clearly divided in his article what the participants rated positively, less positively, and negatively.
The positive aspects:
- A positive aspect is the graphics, which shouldn’t be surprising for a Battlefield game. However, the difference to Battlefield V may not be as significant as some might hope.
- According to the insider, this is likely related to the increased player count of 128 per match. However, a highlight was said to be the tornado that can randomly appear in different locations.
- The destruction is also reported to work well. A large part of the buildings can be blown apart, according to the report. Only the basic structures of the houses are not destroyable, as known from the series. However, it is still too early to draw a conclusion.
- The rocket launch, which was already seen in the trailer, is said to demolish a large area impressively.
The negative aspects:
- The modification of weapons does not seem to have been received well by the testers. Henderson cannot pinpoint exactly why. It may be complicated to switch weapon mods during a match. Or it is simply a matter of habit.
- The weapon balance is almost completely lacking. Automatic weapons apparently have almost no recoil and are even very precise over long distances.
- The sound design apparently has issues in the beta phase, as was the case with CoD Vanguard.
However, one point everyone agreed on: the map.
Map size, performance, and bot problems
These are the biggest problems: According to Henderson, a major point of discussion was the large map “Orbital.” This is considered one of the medium-sized maps in Battlefield 2042, but many testers already find it too big.
It seems almost like an open world, and not even 128 players would be enough to fill it. Additionally, there are numerous wide and open areas without cover, making it difficult for infantry soldiers.
The main feedback regarding the map is that there are too many open areas and no cover, making infantry combat boring for a mode like Conquest.
AI soldiers also do not seem to be received well. They reportedly behave like complete beginners, not really knowing what to do.
This could be problematic, as these bots are supposed to replace players when the server is not full enough.
The final point is optimization and performance. There is also apparently considerable room for improvement.
