The shooter hit DOOM Eternal is getting its first story DLC. At gamescom 2020, the trailer for the upcoming expansion was presented. MeinMMO summarizes what is all to see.
What kind of DLC is this? After DOOM Eternal has been well received at release, the shooter now gets its first DLC, which the developers presented with a new trailer at gamescom 2020.
The Ancient Gods will be a story expansion – to be precise, the first part of it. In the first official trailer, several new enemies can be seen as well as new arenas for the unique multiplayer mode.
The mysterious voice in the trailer mentions that it and the player have been allies for some time and that he appreciates the abilities of the Doomslayer. We have embedded the official trailer here for you:
The characters that appear there seem to be related to the antagonist of the main story, the Makyr. However, they appear to be helping the Doomslayer, at least for the time being.
The voice recounts that the Slayer has seen worlds fall victim to demons before and how he freed them. Apparently, he has made a name for himself with the “Ancient Gods” and not for the first time.
The mysterious narrator concludes with the words: “You have the honor of serving the gods… again.”

Are there new weapons and enemies? In some scenes, it can be seen how ghosts of regular enemies take possession and are subsequently absorbed by the Slayer. However, according to an interview with Gamestar, there are no new weapons.
However, one of these angel-like creatures appears as an enemy, presumably as an elite enemy. So the alliance doesn’t seem to hold for too long.
DOOM Eternal is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and is one of the most successful new shooters on Steam in early 2020. The DLC The Ancient Gods – Part One will be released on October 20, 2020.
