In Pokémon GO you can now encounter Shiny Kaumalat. Some players are unexpectedly catching the rare Pokémon in its shiny form and Niantic has confirmed the Shiny.
This is how Shiny Kaumalat entered the game: On reddit and Twitter, there were suddenly reports from some players that they had caught or hatched Shiny Kaumalat. Niantic responded promptly and shared such a post on Twitter, confirming the new Shiny.
The Shiny is likely one of the rarest Shinys in the game, as Kaumalat itself is already quite rare.

Why is the Shiny suddenly available now? The reason for this is probably the new eggs that are now available in Pokémon GO. Niantic has announced a lot of rotation, and one of the new features is likely Shiny Kaumalat.
Whether Kaumalat will also hatch more frequently from eggs is unknown.
This is why the Shiny is so rare: Kaumalat is one of the rarest Pokémon in the game. It appears very rarely in the wild and hatches from 10km eggs almost as rarely.
The chance of encountering a Kaumalat is already low. When you factor in the chance of it being Shiny, it is likely to be a very rare Shiny.
Whether it is actually the rarest Shiny remains to be seen. There are also Shinys that went wrong, making them extremely rare. They are likely to be even more difficult to obtain.
Are there any updates on the probability? You can only rely on initial reports here. However, it seems that Kaumalat appears more frequently than other Shinys. There are currently not enough data for an accurate calculation.
What about a Community Day? Many trainers have lost hope that Kaumalat will ever get a Community Day after the release of the shiny.
Normally, only Pokémon that have not been available as Shiny in the game before get a Community Day. The only exception was Pikachu on the very first Community Day.
The chances are therefore not good that Kaumalat will get its own Community Day. However, Niantic could also bypass its rules and hold such an event anyway. This would significantly decrease the value of the current Shiny Kaumalat, as nearly everyone would get it on Community Day.
