The Hunger Games are popular and mean that PUBG is now overtaking Dota 2. Will the shooter soon break the first million?
Currently, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is one of the most popular video games on the market. Even though it is still in Early Access, the battle royale shooter already has a large fan community, which keeps setting new records.
Now Battlegrounds has even surpassed the incumbent Dota 2 in terms of simultaneous players on Steam!
PUBG on the way to player record
With this achievement, many gamers did not expect it to happen “so quickly”. PUBG leaves Dota 2 behind and takes the number 1 spot on the weekend for games with the most simultaneous players.
This is special because Dota 2 is a free-to-play game owned by the platform holder Steam, Valve. In contrast, PUBG is in Early Access, and players have to pay for access to the game.
With over 800,000 simultaneous players, PUBG is at the top this weekend. Two weeks ago, Battlegrounds had about 600,000 simultaneous players and has increased so significantly in just a few days.
The next big goal for the battle royale shooter is likely to be the step to the first million. Do you believe PUBG can reach one million simultaneous players? If so, how much time do you give the game?
Constant Increase
The numbers for PUBG continue to climb, and many players are getting into the survival game. This is clearly reflected in the statistics on SteamSpy. In the following image, we show you the peak numbers of simultaneous daily PUBG players. The list starts with 186,700 simultaneous players at the end of May and goes up to August 26 with over 810,600 simultaneous players. A solid performance.
New content on the way
To ensure that the numbers continue to rise and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds does not become boring, new content is already planned. The developers have provided first impressions of a new map that we can expect soon. It features a lot of sand and many facing houses that invite to fights from window to window. More about the new PUBG map can be found here.
At the big Gamescom event, there were some discussions about the winner’s tactics. He hid instead of participating in large fights and won $15,000
