Just before BlizzCon, leaks and information about upcoming games are pouring in. Overwatch 2 has now received some promising leaks.
Every year, just before BlizzCon, it’s time for speculation, fake leaks, and also some true leaks that leak out before the fair. Besides all the speculation surrounding the next Overwatch game, there is also a leak source that is particularly interesting.
That’s the streamer Metro, who has released some details on Twitter that supposedly come from the project “Overwatch 2”.
Why is Metro credible? Metro has a bit more credibility than other supposed leaks, as he proved his sources last year. He correctly predicted Ashe and the McCree cinematic last year.
What does the leak say? Metro has shared several pieces of information on Twitter in recent days, which he claims to have from a source. Here are the most important pieces of information. Overwatch 2 will:
- Be introduced with a short cinematic where many heroes are seen, including Mei, Tracer, Winston, and a younger Genji. Mei will likely be injured and rescued by Genji.
- Include PvE and PvP.
- Have a story mode.
- Feature a leveling system that affects how you can play your hero. However, he didn’t know if this only pertains to PvE or also to PvP.
- As an example, he mentioned a modification of Tracer’s Pulse Bomb: When she hits an enemy with it, all nearby enemies will also be affected by a Pulse Bomb.
- The game will be a standalone title and not an expansion for Overwatch.
What else does Metro speculate: Besides that, Metro is also speculating a bit and thinks that skins earned in Overwatch might be transferable to Overwatch 2. But that is purely his speculation. Additionally, Metro believes that Overwatch 2 will take place historically in the past, during the height of Overwatch. This would also fit the cinematic.
No new hero at BlizzCon: Something disappointing for fans might be that BlizzCon, according to Metro, will not present a new Overwatch hero. Apparently, all resources are currently being focused on Overwatch 2, so no new heroes will be released for the time being.
