The co-op shooter Outriders is released today, April 1st. MeinMMO summarizes the first impressions of the loot shooter for you and explains why there are hardly any proper tests.
What is Outriders? This is a new third-person shooter that combines story, loot, and RPG mechanics and can be played co-op. The setting mixes sci-fi with dark fantasy and takes place on a distant planet.
At the start, players choose from four classes and can then continue to expand these throughout the approximately 30-40 hour campaign until it goes into the endgame. With the official release of Outriders, there are now also first impressions of the new loot shooter from People Can Fly.
You can find more about the game in our overview of Outriders: Release time, classes, system requirements – All information about the loot shooter
How is the game being received now? Currently, the first reactions can mainly be found in the subreddit about Outriders (via reddit). There, numerous players who have already invested several hours share their first impressions.
They mainly come from Xbox players, who were able to play since March 31 due to a trick. Many of them played the free demo of Outriders, which received some criticism regarding its technical condition.
The first reactions
What is good? The full version seems to have received significant improvements over the demo. User oO_Gero_Oo writes: “I’m playing on the Series S, performance compared to the demo is massively improved, the gunplay feels better, the sound is better” (via reddit).
- The loot mechanics are also praised. Droksid writes: “It’s challenging, but never unfair. […] The pace at which you get equipment is excellent – constant upgrades with new looks” (via reddit).
- User An_Emu praises the story highly: “The story is very exciting and it almost felt like I was playing a game like The Witcher or Fallout. It looks like Outriders is the first loot shooter in a long time that has learned from the mistakes of similar titles” (via reddit).
- The enemy and level variation is also well received by numerous commentators. Later levels would be significantly more open compared to the demo.
What is not so good? There are also reports of technical glitches and issues with certain mechanics.
- For solo players, it can be tiring according to LollipopScientist: “Hordes and hordes of enemies charging at you when playing alone can be a bit exhausting at times. It’s much more fun with a group” (via reddit).
- Some players are also complaining about stuttering in online groups that cause players to teleport back and forth when there are connection issues.
- Some players believe that the enemy snipers are too strong.
- The performance seems to have primarily improved on Xbox Series consoles. On the Xbox One, there may be more technical issues. However, this cannot be stated with certainty.
Currently, it is unfortunately still too early to paint a clear picture of Outriders from the reactions. Because at the moment there are not many voices overall.
Where are the reviews for Outriders?
We received our test samples at MeinMMO right before the release and currently cannot provide a comprehensive assessment. In our assessment, it looks similar for other official testers, which is why full reviews will probably come later.
We are discovering Outriders at exactly the same time as you. However, we will soon publish a hands-on report. Additionally, you can now expect daily coverage of Outriders at MeinMMO.
As soon as we have a clear picture of the endgame, we will also provide our assessment here. However, we need to reach that point and then test thoroughly. As is tradition with us, we will of course quickly capture your opinion and that of the Outriders community in general.
In the meantime, you can participate in our survey: Outriders is finally here! Will you play the new co-op shooter?
If you have already played, please let us know in the comments what you think of Outriders.
