The new survival game V Rising is a huge success for the indie studio Stunlock. With over 1.5 million sales, the game ranks high on the list of most played games on Steam. However, some players fear that the game alone is not enough. It needs updates.
What’s happening with V Rising:
- On May 17th, V Rising was released in early access on Steam and immediately took off. The player numbers are growing, with an average of over 100,000 players (via steamcharts.com).
- By now, the first players have achieved everything, even though they had to play an average of 9 hours a day since release.
- Developer Stunlock Studios repeatedly releases hotfixes with important changes, but still, some players fear that this is not enough.

More big updates, fewer small patches

To do this, feedback needs to be collected and analyzed. However, they are already working to continue supporting the game:
We are currently planning to work on more extensive updates rather than frequent small patches with minimal changes. It is too early to say when the first major content patch for V Rising will be released, as we want to ensure it adds something new to the experience. This will require a bit more patience from you as fans.
Between the lines, it can be read that Stunlock Studios seems to be quite satisfied with the state of the game. In fact, there are rarely complaints about technical issues and more criticism about gameplay, such as the overly tough PvP. Even here, improvements have already been made.
When will it continue? It is hard to pinpoint a date. With Valheim, which is often compared to V Rising, the first big update “Hearth & Home” was released only over six months after its release.
However, the studio behind Valheim also relied on making the game flawless before new content was to be released. This caused the game to lose some traction a few months after release. V Rising apparently wants to take a different path.
At the moment, many players rely on private servers and sessions where they can simply play their way. They enjoy exploring the world at their own pace or building their Victorian castles.
