In Fortnite: Battle Royale there are tons of banners that have little use for players. But thanks to new outfits, these things suddenly make a lot more sense and add more color to the game.
What are banners in Fortnite? Banners are small icons that you can use as an avatar for your account. They can be customized with different colors and display various popular icons or elements from the Fortnite world, including the Cuddle Team Leader, the Dino, or recently the Cattus Monster or the Doggus Robot.
You could get tons of banners in every Battle Pass, and until Season 8, there was a bonus banner instead of a Battle Star every 2 weeks.
What were the banners good for? As already mentioned, the banners are simply a symbol of your account. They didn’t have more utility. Until now.
New dynamic outfits make Fortnite more creative and colorful
Here’s how you can now use the banners meaningfully: In the lead-up to the big event of the showdown battle between Doggus and Cattus, the developers introduced ways to finally use the banners meaningfully. A range of affordable outfits for 800 V-Bucks (8 Euros) were available in the shop. They show the equipped banner in your chosen color.
This allows for many options to experiment with your style. For example, you can show a black jersey with the Cuddle Team Leader or show your support for the monster with a bright pink shirt and Team Cattus symbol.
In total, there were 8 skins on this theme, with 4 female and 4 male skins featuring different hair and skin colors.
What else was there? The collection of interactive outfits also offered you a pickaxe, a cape, and a glider, which also dynamically adjusts color and symbol to your chosen banner.
When will the cosmetics be available? The new cosmetics are currently no longer available in the shop. However, it can be assumed that Epic will regularly bring them back. Probably again before major events, like the recently held battle against the monster.
It is also quite possible that the banner outfits will come to the World Cup or other major tournaments to support popular participants.
This is how the fans react: Players on Twitter find the new skins good and are happy about the many possibilities:
- “A skin with 20 color options and hundreds of designs, including some that are rare or no longer available.”

Other players find the skins boring and too bland:
“They are so simple and monotonous, not everyone will go crazy about them.”
Others are already looking forward to all the so-called “OG players”, meaning people who are proud to have been playing since early on. They are likely to show off with their cool, super rare banners from early seasons.
Jürgen’s conclusion: I love outfits in Fortnite and found the banners so silly before. I didn’t even bother to collect them and actually ignored them.
That’s changing now, because of the new banner outfits. Now, I can establish a very individual style and run around with it. I’m also looking forward to new, event-specific banners that will surely be available soon.
