Rockstar has announced in its newswire that the Los Santos Tuners update for GTA Online will be released soon. Starting next week, you can really tune up old and new cars. MeinMMO tells you what’s in the new update.
What kind of update is this? The Tuner update was already announced in May as a major summer update. As the name suggests, tuner fans are expected to get a lot out of the new content. Now we finally know what’s included in the DLC and when it starts.
When is the update coming? The release is already next Tuesday, on July 20th. The Tuner update brings a whole tuning scene to Los Santos and has accordingly some new content in store.
There is no specific time yet, but updates usually go live in the afternoon between 4 and 5 PM German time.
What is the cost of the update? The Los Santos Tuners update will be free for all players of GTA Online.

New races, cars, and a new social hub
Here’s what to expect in the Tuner update: According to Rockstar, GTA Online will receive a complete underground tuner scene with the DLC. You can look forward to new opportunities to tune your cars. Here’s an overview of the content:
- New vehicles
- New races
- New missions
- A new social hub
What is this social hub? It’s a large warehouse on the outskirts of Cypress Flats, but it no longer serves as a warehouse. Instead, it’s a meeting point for tuning enthusiasts. You can only enter the warehouse with an LS Car Meet membership and must leave your weapons outside.
This way, you don’t have to worry about griefers or trolls who could destroy your cars. It’s all about cars here.
If you pay 50,000 GTA$, you become an “LS Car Meet” member and unlock a new progress branch with reputation.
Earn reputation and gain new benefits
What benefits are those? According to Rockstar, you can earn reputation and receive new benefits after each level. You will also get a test track where you and your friends can try out vehicles.
With the “Prize Ride Challenges,” there is also the opportunity to unlock special vendors and features. These include the following examples:
- Merch Shop
- Tattoo Shop
- Modding Area
- New tuning options for your cars
- Better prices on certain vehicles
- Access to new race modes
- Your own private car meet
How do you earn reputation? To do this, you need to win races, log in daily, and spend time on the test track. Even if you just hang out at the Car Meet, you can earn reputation.
Test track, new races, and 17 vehicles
This is how the test track works: On the test track, you can compete in head-to-head races with other players or simply race time trials. You can share the track publicly with up to 30 players. With so many vehicles, it can get chaotic, so collisions are disabled.
If you’re not in the mood for that, you can use the test track solo, or in a private session with your friends. In addition to the new test track, there are also new races and leaderboards.
What kind of races are these? With the Tuner update, you can compete in new races both in the Car Meet and outside in Los Santos. Each variant comes with its own ranking. The new races are called Street Race Series, Pursuit Series, and Sprint.
- Street Race Series are races that take you across the city and are supposed to provide “creative” tracks including shortcuts.
- Pursuit Series are check-point races that give you more freedom in choosing your course as you have to speed from checkpoint to checkpoint. Here, you also have police on your tail.
- In Sprints, you must get from point A to point B faster than three other drivers.
What about new cars? Of course, there will also be new vehicles to obtain. There should also be more vehicles of various types. A total of 17 new models are expected to be added to the game over the summer. At the release of the update, 10 models will be included:

- Vapid Dominator GTT
- Annis ZR350
- Dinka RT3000

You can already earn rewards
Anyone playing GTA Online until the release on July 20th has the chance to earn special rewards: The “Los Santos Tour” jacket. For that, you just have to log in before July 20th and participate in an impromptu race.
If you also successfully steal a car and sell it at LS Customs in free mode, you will receive a “Los Santos Customs” racing suit.
How do you get the rewards? You just need to log in by July 20th. Afterwards, the items will be in your wardrobe on July 23rd.
Next week, further information about the update should be provided. Among other things, it will be about the mission type Contracts, where you have to prove your driving skills in heists.
What about the next-gen update? So far, there is no new information regarding that. Rockstar emphasizes that there will be news soon.
