Cloud Imperium Games has introduced the character creation of female characters for the space online game Star Citizen. However, fans miss some features and wonder why the women all look so similar.
What was shown? The character editor of Star Citizen will soon allow you to create female characters as well. The customization options available to you have now been shown in a video.
How does character creation work? Star Citizen relies on a DNA system. This means that you’re not really creating your hero but rather their parents. Your character ultimately derives from their traits.
However, you can still customize your character afterward. For example, you can choose different eye colors, optimize the mouth, and select hairstyles.

What stands out about the female heroes? The video clearly shows that the women somehow always look very similar. No matter how much tweaking is done to the settings, the face doesn’t change significantly.
How do players react? Generally, the Star Citizen community is excited about the system because it allows for many options. However, there are currently few noticeable effects.
Moreover, players miss a wide variety of hairstyles. Currently, it seems that the selection is limited to fashionable short hairstyles for women. However, Cloud Imperium plans to improve this.

No Body Customization Planned Apparently
What about body customization? The character editor only shows the option to change the face. Whether there will be further body adjustments is unclear.
Players fear that this may not be the case since it could cause issues with hitboxes. For example, thicker characters could be at a disadvantage because they might be hit more often than thinner characters.
This could lead to everyone wanting to play as a character that is as thin as possible, which would make body customization unnecessary.
When will character customization be introduced? Alpha 3.5 of Star Citizen, which will allow you to customize your heroine based on the DNA system, is set to be released this month.
