Call of Duty: Warzone made extensive changes to the game in the Mid-Season of Season 2. Everything has been tweaked, almost everything in the game is now a bit different. And this has finally been well received by players.
- Call of Duty: Warzone has been struggling with many bugs for months and has recently focused more on repairs rather than new content or adjustments.
- With the Mid-Season of Season 2, that seems to have changed – there was a significant influx of new content and an important change in health points.
- The reactions to this are finally positive again – MeinMMO creates a mood picture.
Season 2 Changes Reshape Warzone
Why is everything a bit different now? Warzone is essentially split into 2 maps, each bringing its own modes, and both have undergone significant changes.
On one side, there is Rebirth Island. The smaller map has been gathering fans for a while and received a facelift in the Mid-Season.
There are 2 new “Points of Interest” and minor adjustments throughout the map, such as new ladders and more options to reach higher areas. Additionally, new mechanics like the mobile buy station were introduced.
Additionally, there is now a revised version of the solo experience on Rebirth Island, where you can utilize the typical “revival countdown” even without teammates.
On the large map Caldera, the gameplay has fundamentally changed. “Vanguard Royale” served as a test mode in recent months and has now been completely removed.
There is now only the normal Battle Royale, which has adopted some features from Vanguard Royale. Chief among them is the adjustment of health points to 150.
With the increased number of health points, the combat feeling changes, the time-to-kill is higher. This shakes up the weapon meta and alters the way battles unfold on Caldera.

Rebirth Island, Solo Mode, Health Points – 3 Hits
The Mid-Season update is overall surprisingly well received. The Warzone news account “ModernWarzone” started a poll on Twitter regarding the Mid-Season and received a clear tendency:
- Good update: 70.2 %
- Bad update: 29.8 %
- Participants: 8,284 / Status: 23.03.22 (11:00 AM)

In the following paragraphs, we will take a closer look at the 3 highlights.
How are the changes on Rebirth Island received? There were concerns beforehand that the popular small map would be “over-adjusted”. Many players liked the old Rebirth Island.
However, the adjustments for better accessibility to higher areas and the new zones create a solid impression and represent a good expansion for many players.
This is what “Adventurous_Ad6435” writes on reddit: “Just finished gaming for today. I think they did a great job. Added a few features like the Redeploy Balloons and explosive barrels. Also, they’ve added some ladders to allow enemies to attack from multiple directions and prevent camping, which is already fantastic.”
But no Warzone update without issues: With the update, there were also some changes to the colors on the map, and not everyone is happy about that. There are positive voices here too, but the new “flair” doesn’t sit well with everyone.
In addition, some find the “Juggernaut event” on Rebirth Island stressful. You stand no chance when multiple armored suits maraud across the island in the last moments of the game.
There is also a problem with the buy stations that is causing frustration. Many players experience a short lag, a delay when activating the stations. In stressful situations, that is unmanageable.
What about the Solo Mode? The new solo mode on Rebirth Island also received many positive voices. After landing, a countdown of 15 seconds starts – if you survive that time, you get a free respawn.
@ModernWarzone writes about this on Twitter: “Rebirth Island Solo could be the best solo experience of Warzone so far. Great job with the Mid-Season update!”
There are also many counter-opinions under the tweet because the usual camper problem in solo modes persists. But due to the safe respawn until a certain point in the match, you don’t get kicked out of the game right away when an immobile opponent is waiting to take you out.
How are the changes to health points received? Here the developers played it safe. The adjustment was previously tested in Vanguard Royale, and there was even a community poll on the issue:
More than 70 % of over 75,000 participants supported the adjustment. Now it is in the game and meets the wishes of many Warzone soldiers.
However, this adjustment didn’t come without issues. The sniper weapons in the normal Battle Royale were no longer one-shot killers.
Initially, it was thought that this was intentional. Developer Raven clarified, however, that it was a bug and they fixed the issue in record time:
Overall, finally a strong update with a lot of positive feedback. Warzone is on the right track, although still far from “perfect”.
