The MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria is playable! Really! However, not in the way that fans likely imagined.
What has been released? The developers of the MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria have actually launched the Pre-Alpha. Well, at least part of it. Under the title “Pre-Alpha Testing Phase: Trial of the Tested!” you can now try parkour elements in a dungeon.
What can you try out? You read that right. The developers are showing you parkour elements. What you can play resembles action-adventures like Tomb Raider. The following is possible:
- Climb over walls
- Jump over platforms or gaps
- Climb up poles and jump between them
- Climb and swing on ropes
- Ziplining
- Balance on beams and jump over chasms
- Slide through small gaps
- Dive under barriers
- Run along walls and jump between them like in Star Wars: Jedi – Fallen Order
Are there no MMORPG elements to see? No. Other elements of Chronicles of Elyria, the MMORPG where your hero ages and dies, are supposed to be playable later. This includes interactions with NPCs, combat, your inventory, exploring game areas, and much more. The developers explain that they are already working on all these things, but are currently showing the parkour elements.
What do the players think about it? The Pre-Alpha is subject to an NDA. So anyone participating as a backer cannot disclose details or show anything. However, there have already been a few reactions, most of which are not particularly positive. This is mainly because some do not understand what parkour elements have to do with an MMORPG.
On the other hand, the Pre-Alpha proves, as little as is shown, that something truly playable is being created here and the MMORPG may actually be released someday.
- DontStandInStupid writes on Reddit: “I can’t share any details due to the NDA, but I played it for 15 minutes and then turned it off.”
- Raleigh-St-Clair is clearly disappointed: “Imagine being one of the backers who thought they could be a king in the game. These people have thrown their money out of the window.”
- guardsbank sarcastically comments: “A Tomb Raider demo!”
- Others, like Spenraw, hold on to the belief that Chronicles of Elyria can still become a good MMORPG: “I still have hope…”
What do you think about the developers of Chronicles of Elyria releasing a parkour demo as the first Pre-Alpha?
- There are also other MMORPGs besides Chronicles of Elyria that we consider very exciting. Want to know what we think are the most promising MMORPGs of 2020? These are, in our opinion, the 8 most promising titles for 2020.
- However, there are also MMORPGs that are supposed to be released in 2020, where we indeed have our doubts.
