The Euro Truck Simulator 2 is finally getting its well-deserved multiplayer on PC. After over 500 hours of solitude, MeinMMO editor Patrick Freese is thrilled about the solution and that he won’t have to find unofficial ways to play.
What’s it about? In 2012, Euro Truck Simulator 2 was released. Now, nine years later, an official multiplayer mode is finally coming. Fans like me have been waiting for this for years. I have already spent over 520 hours on Steam playing the title. Until now, I had to download unofficial mods to play my beloved Euro Truck Simulator 2 in multiplayer. It always felt like cheating.
Now the official solution is finally coming, and this is already one of the biggest announcements for this year 2021 for me.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 Multiplayer – When is the release?
This is known: The developers at SCS Software announced that both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator will receive official multiplayer support.
The multiplayer mode is called “Convoy Mode.” In this mode, 8 players can drive together on the same map simultaneously. To create a communal feeling, AI traffic, time, and weather can be synchronized. Additionally, all 8 players can drive the same job simultaneously, meaning they have the exact same routes.
How does it work? Players can create their own sessions for up to 8 players and optionally protect them with a password. The progress from the Convoy tour does not have to be carried over to the single-player save, and it can be simply deleted.
How to participate: Those who want to test this now can already do so in the American Truck Simulator. Open the game in your Steam library, select “Properties” and go to the Beta tab. Enter the code “XZo2orrgbG92XMQ” there and confirm that you want to download the experimental beta. You can find more details in the official forum (via scssoft.com).
When will the beta for ETS 2 come? According to the developers, the beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is expected to start in June or July. There is no exact date yet.

Finally play multiplayer officially
How important it is to me: I am a big fan of Euro Truck Simulator 2. Here on MeinMMO, I have already told you that when multiplayer annoys me, I get into my digital truck.
I currently have 524 hours of gameplay on Steam with this title. A large part of these hours consisted of driving around alone. Without friends or other drivers whom I can meet on my tours.
This has always been the big question for me in recent years. Why is there no official multiplayer?
In recent years, I could only help with unofficial mods. This is how I have been playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 multiplayer so far. With friends, I have unofficially played multiplayer using a third-party mod. But it always feels a bit like cheating the developers of ETS 2. I would much rather use a feature developed by them to drive with others.
I can hardly wait to finally try out the beta. I can manage to start in American Truck Simulator until it kicks off properly in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Then I will finally be driving with my friends in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Together we will explore the new regions and roads and can compare trucks directly on the routes.
