The fantasy MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has announced a version for the PS4 Pro and for the Nintendo Switch.
At the edge of the fan festival in Frankfurt, there was information about further versions of Final Fantasy XIV. A version for the PS4 Pro is apparently in the works.
The mastermind behind FF14, Naoki Yoshida, played the latest build the week before and now says that the “PS4 Pro” support will come soon with a patch.
PS4 Pro: No 4k, game to run smoother
In an MMORPG, it is about displaying as many things on one screen at the same time, so the PS4 Pro will not bring better graphics. The team will use the extra power to display more objects. They do not want to go for 4k, but rather let the game run smoother and more fluid.
Yoshida assures that users of the standard PS4 need not worry. The team will also put a lot of work into the older consoles to provide the best possible experience.

Even though the PS3 will no longer be supported with the expansion Stormblood, PS3 players have the option to upgrade to a PS4 version.
Nintendo Switch: Port not excluded, but only with cross-play
Regarding a possible version of Final Fantasy XIV on the Nintendo Switch the statements are less specific.
The basic goal is to run Final Fantasy XIV on as many platforms as possible, but they definitely do not want a version that is isolated and not connected to the other versions.

Players on PS3, PS4, and PC share a world. A port to the XBox One has so far failed because cross-play there is not easily possible.
Currently, Yoshida probably does not know yet where the Nintendo Switch stands on the possibility of cross-play. If cross-play with the Switch is possible, Yoshida would be very interested in bringing Final Fantasy XIV to the Nintendo Switch.
At the fan festival in Frankfurt, Square Enix also presented the new trailer for the June expansion Stormblood:
