In Final Fantasy XIV, there will be more new jobs. But mastermind Naoki Yoshida would like to pass on some responsibilities.
In 2 weeks, the expansion “Stormblood” will be released. For the head of the game Naoki Yoshida, this means a big press tour. We recently interviewed him, now he spoke with the US site Polygon.
The announcement there: As long as Final Fantasy XIV exists, new jobs will come to the game, meaning new classes. Other MMORPGs hold back on new classes relatively – in WoW, a new one comes every 4 years. That is not how it will be for Final Fantasy XIV. With Stormblood, Red Mage and Samurai will join the MMORPG, two new classes, and they will not be the last ones.

Everyone loves jobs
“New jobs are really important. We can’t imagine not bringing new jobs. It is part of the Final Fantasy series and everyone loves jobs!” Yoshida said.
Although it will get more challenging with each expansion to decide which jobs to add, they definitely want to bring more.
Yoshida’s own job might change soon
Naoki Yoshida is considered the man who saved Final Fantasy XIV after the troubled launch. But the dual role as Game Director and Producer seems to be taking a toll on him.
He says: “Of course, I am getting physically older. I already feel that it is exhausting me. I wish someone could help me as a Producer.”

But don’t worry, Yoshida has no intention of leaving Final Fantasy XIV. He is not drawn to develop a new game. He feels no urge to switch – when he sees new exciting ideas, he doesn’t dream of a new game, but thinks about how to incorporate them into Final Fantasy XIV.
And even if his employer Square Enix one day asks him to develop a new game, he will ensure that Final Fantasy XIV stays on the right track.
A strong candidate for such a “new job” in the future is the Blue Mage, alongside the Dancer:
